Only six states ratified the Constitution faster than Maryland, and it paradoxically is among the smallest-area states while being among the most densely populated. Maryland is among the richest states, having the number-one median household income. Physical investments like gold and silver are popular among Maryland investors. The state has a local history of gold mining, although none currently operate. Maryland's local economy features many dealers who offer collectors and investors alike precious metals and coins.
