Benjamin Graham was a brilliant economist and professional investor that passed away in 1976. He taught at the Columbia School of Business and was one of the first proponents of value investing. His wisdom from back then rings quite true now, as then:

“The more the investor depends on his portfolio and the income therefrom, the more necessary it is for him to guard against the unexpected and the disconcerting.”
